AI and the Future of Education - a workshop for the European Commission (July, 2018) |

Neuroscience, AI and the Future of EducationThis talk was presented at TEDx Southbank, Australia, in February 2016.
It overviews some of the neuroscience underpinning iKnow, and how AI can be used to better personalise education. |
UQ Research and InnovationiKnow is founded on a strong empirical background of psychology, neuroscience and artificial intelligence.
This brief article overviews our research at the University of Queensland exploring the fundamental processes underlying memory and learning. In this project we investigated the neural processes underlying children's learning, and implemented this in robots and software, creating intelligent systems that learned from self-directed exploration, in the same manner as children. Understanding the mechanisms underlying human memory and learning, has allowed us in iKnow to develop teaching algorithms highly tuned to how the brain processes information, to maximise learning and retention. |
APC 400th Issue iKnow was co-founded and heavily supported by Australian philanthropist and entrepreneur Sean Howard. The attached article is from the 400th issue of Australian Personal Computer Magazine (one of Sean's many successful publications that he started), describing Sean's journey in the high-tech sector (including founding OzEmail - a company he sold for $520 million in 1999). Our project also gains a mention in this article.
