Teacher / Parent Survey
Hi there,
my name is Dr Scott Bolland, and I am a researcher/educator in the areas of positive psychology, memory and learning, and education technology. I have presented workshops and seminars to thousands of teachers across the globe, and am a frequent keynote speaker at international education events (e.g., my next will be GESS INDONESIA - the largest education event in South East Asia). I am currently writing a book for parents and teachers, and am setting up a small pilot group of those who may be interested in helping shape the ideas. The premise of the book is as follows: If the aim of education is to teach children the skills required to flourish in the real-world, we are doing a remarkably unremarkable job. Depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability worldwide, suicide accounts for more deaths than wars and homicides combined, 67% of our marriages are failing, and now we are facing the real threat that artificial intelligence will make most of our jobs redundant. How do we train our kids to better face these immense and growing challenges? The book will examine the field of positive psychology unpacking the skills required for living a full, rich and valued life. It is intended to be a book for teachers and parents, synthesising ideas from psychology, neuroscience, education technology and complex systems leadership, to provide practical tools that we can implement today for a brighter tomorrow for our children. Before I continue with my writing, I would like to make sure it is addressing the issues that parents and teachers feel are most important. Your assistance in answering the following questions would help me greatly!! Also, it will be a book that will be accessible to parents and teachers across the globe, so your participation in the pilot will help make sure that it is a book that is of maximum benefit to all. Thank you so much for your time! |
